A 36-year-old Sarnia man faces numerous charges after allegedly pulling out a 12" knife following a chase with police Sunday morning. Just after 8am police spotted a stolen vehicle in the Devine St. and Vidal St. area. A high speed chase ensued south on Indian Rd. to Williams Rd. Constable Les Jones says a second officer picked up the vehicle on LaSalle Line at Tashmoo Ave. where the driver lost control and three occupants fled on foot.
"One officer who arrived on scene chased the driver into a wooded area and that driver then brandished a 12 inch knife," says Jones. "The officer made several requests for him to drop the knife but he did not comply. That male then decided to run again at which time he fell and that officer was able to deploy his taser."
The suspect faces several charges including possession of stolen property over $5,000, flight from police, driving while disqualified and resisting arrest. A 22-year-old female passenger was located nearby and charged with possession of stolen property while a 26-year-old male passenger was found a few hours later in Corunna. He's charged with possession of stolen property and breach of probation.
No names have been released pending bail hearings.
