Lambton College Recognizes Alumnus

Lambton College gave out some hardware at their annual Distinguished Awards Gala at the college's Event Centre Wednesday night.

Among the recipients was a familiar face at Blackburn Radio, Peter Frangis, who was given the college's Alumni Award of Distinction.

Before joining the radio station, Frangis was a graduate of the Community Integration through Co-operative Education Program, a two-year modified program designed for individuals with learning challenges.

Frangis says he's kept busy since graduating in 2006.

"I've been working at Blackburn Radio, recording show prep for the announcers and also record commercials for local businesses," says Frangis. "Sometime's I get to help out the DJ's in special events like the Santa Claus Parade."

Frangis says he's had Wednesday circled on the calendar since November, when he received a call from college President Judith Morris telling him about the award.

Other award recipients:

  • Pat Davidson - The William G. Davis Founder's Award
  • County of Lambton - The Lambton College Foundation Award of Merit
  • Marilyn Couture - Professor Emeritus
  • Joel Primmer - The David Johnston Leadership Award
  • LANXESS Inc. (Dr. Phil Magil and Dr. Kim Choo) - The David Johnston Leadership Award
