Suspension Notices In The Mail

Suspension notices are arriving in the mail this week.

Lambton Public Health is mailing out 2,159 notices to parents of elementary students, whose vaccination records are not up to date.

Supervisor Erin Courtney says parents still have a few weeks to get back to the health unit.

"This is the first notice and if we don't hear from parents or we don't receive information from them, then the next notice they will receive will be in April," says Courtney.

"The suspension date for elementary students is May 16."

All children, 18 years and younger, require the vaccines against diphtheria, tetanus , polio, mumps, rubella, measels, meningitis, whooping cough and chicken pox.

In the meantime, the health unit is still waiting to receive updated records for 390 secondary students. Those students who do not update their records will be suspended as of February 16.
