About $2-million worth of upgrades to the power grid in Sherwood Village continue.
Bluewater Power President and CEO Janice McMichael-Dennis says over the last few years the utility has replaced over 8km of underground infrastructure and transformers in Sherwood. They're now working on replacing surrounding hydro poles.
She says the area was experiencing more frequent power outages than others.
"We keep very close track of outages because we're only as good as when the power is on and we completely understand that and certainly the Sherwood area was one of what we would call the under performing areas, says McMichael-Dennis.
"It still met all the criteria, but for us it just wasn't good enough and we felt that needed to be targeted to improve that for our customers in that area."
McMichael-Dennis says its hoped the project will be completed by the middle of the year.
Power is scheduled to be out for part of the Sherwood subdivision Tuesday from 9am to noon to allow for ongoing improvements. About 300 customers will be affected.
