UPDATED: Man Arrested In Armed Drugstore Robbery

A 26-year-old St. Clair Township man is facing a slew of charges in connection with an armed robbery Tuesday afternoon.

Sarnia police Constable John Sottosanti says officers were called to a southend pharmacy just before 5pm for a man armed with a handgun.

"At this time the suspect directed the three employees at the pharmacy to hand over a large quantity of opiate based drugs including fentanyl patches, oxycodone, morphine and demerol," says Sottosanti. "In all, hundreds of patches in various dosages and hundreds of pills, also in various dosages, were taken."

Sottosanti says the man fled in a nearby vehicle and employees were able to gather a partial license plate and description for police.

A suspect was arrested by London police during a traffic stop around 3:30am Wednesday and returned to Sarnia.

Clark Donald MacPherson remains in custody after his initial appearance in court Wednesday morning and will appear again by video Thursday.

He faces various charges including robbery using a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, three counts of breach of probation, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and several other drug, robbery, and firearm related charges.
