Sarnia-Lambton Progressive Conservative MPP Bob Bailey is growing concerned about a new OPP billing model.
In the Ontario Legislature Wednesday, he expressed worry about a new base service fee for wind turbine property.
Bailey says Frontenac Islands recently received a municipal policing bill that was $26,000 higher than expected because of a charge to police turbines.
He's concerned municipalities like Lambton Shores and Plympton-Wyoming will face the same thing.
"First of all, they didn't want the wind turbines but they had to take them under the Green Energy Act," says Bailey. "Now they find out they could be assessed a fee for turbines. You know, the municipalities are reimbursed by the wind energy companies for the turbines but they certainly weren't expecting to pay a fee on top of that."
Bailey says municipalities have their hands tied because they can't stop the construction of approved projects.
He says when the Liberals were asked what they were going to do about the rising costs, they didn't have an answer.
