This is not a cruel April Fool's joke.
Snow is in the forecast for the first weekend of the month.
Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson says our weather will be impacted by a polar vortex and a couple of fast moving Alberta clippers.
He says Sarnia could see a few centimetres of snow accumulation by late Saturday and there's the prospect of off lake flurries in east and north Lambton County Sunday.
"There's also the possibility of some accumulating snow Sunday night into Monday morning with the second clipper," says Coulson. "Daytime highs Saturday and Sunday are expected to be about two degrees, our normal high for this time of year should be ten. Monday and Tuesday are looking to be coldest days in this particular cold snap, Monday only expecting to get to the freezing mark, a high of plus one only on Tuesday."
Coulson says colder than normal temperatures are expected the first two weeks of April.
"We are noticing the vortex that usually sits over the North Pole has weakened somewhat, it's sunk a bit southward and with that southward motion it's bringing with it some pretty chilly air," he says.
