Sting Lose In Double Overtime

For the first time this series, the Sting and Greyhounds needed overtime, and it took two extra periods for Sault Ste. Marie to win 3-2.

For the second straight game, the Sting were without their leading scorer during the regular season Travis Konecny.

The Greyhounds opened the scoring on the powerplay, as a seeing eye point shot from captain Blake Speers got by everyone, including Charlie Graham. Sarnia responded two minutes later when Matt Mistele scored his fifth goal of the post season, tying the game at one.

Sarnia out shot the Soo 14-7 during the middle period and scored the lone goal. Pavel Zacha picked up his second of the playoffs with Matt Mistele and Jeff King recording the assists.

Colton White tied the game 10:44 into the third period, beating Graham over the short side shoulder.

Sarnia held a 30-22 shot advantage through 60 minutes.

Teams swapped chances during the first overtime with Brandon Halverson making ten saves, while Graham turned aside, keeping the game tied through 80 minutes.

Sault Ste. Marie broke the tie in the second overtime, scoring on their third powerplay since the end of regulation.

The now face a must win situation at home Saturday night as they look to avoid the first round upset Game six would be back in Sault Ste. Marie Sunday.
