A final staff report on the consolidation of St. Clair Secondary School and Sarnia Collegiate Institute & Technical School is recommending the closure of SCITS as of July 1, 2017.
Administration will present the report Tuesday night for information only.
Save SCITS Committee spokesperson Susan MacKenzie is still holding out hope they will sway trustees' minds at a April 26 meeting, prior to the final decision on May 10.
"I hold out hope and there's a lot of people at the public delegations to present," says MacKenzie.
"The only thing we really have to focus on is our rationale, why we believe that SCITS should be chosen to consolidate the students at."
Lambton Kent District School Board Superintendent of Education Gary Girardi says the final report will be presented to trustees, for information only, at their meeting April 12.
"Anytime you're looking at school consolidations, it's a difficult process," says Girardi.
"We're very aware of the passion people have for their community schools."
Requests to speak must be made in writing at least four days prior to the April 26 meeting and there will be a limit of ten minutes for each speaker.
The report also recommends students from St. Clair attend SCITS in September of this year, before everyone relocates at the St Clair site in September, 2017.
