Parents of children with special needs say they have no confidence in Ontario's education minister even though the government lifted a hold on admissions to demonstration schools, which tailor programs to individual students.
Sarnia mother Cathy Pastorius says her 12-year-old son Hayden has flourished during his short time attending Amethyst Demonstration School in London.
She says Education Minister Liz Sandals has not committed to keeping the schools open.
"We're less hopeful now than we were yesterday, we thought she was opening it up but she's only promising the application process for 2016-17 enrollment and she's not guaranteeing that it's not going to close by the end of this year," Pastorius.
Pastorius, along with hundreds of other concerned parents and teachers held a demonstration Thursday outside Queen's Park.
