April Property Sales Reach Highest Dollar Volume This Year

Sarnia-Lambton real estate sales have reached the highest monthly sales dollar volume so far this year.

197 properties sold in April worth $45.7-million, up 16% compared to the same month last year.

Real Estate Board President Jane Baker says expired listings are down 19% for the year so far, which means properties are selling quickly.

"Contact your realtor, get your home valued, and get your house on the market. Don't wait, get it up now," she says. "The buyers are there and they're ready to look at the product."

The highest number of residential home sales, at 45, was in the $150,000 to $200,000 range.

"We're seeing big jumps in those mid-to-upper numbers," says Baker. "Definitely starting to see more numbers in the higher range and a lot of action in that mid-to-upper range."

The hot real estate market has broken ten-year record highs for three of the four months so far this year, continuing a trend from 2015.

There are currently 636 active listings in the MLS system with 316 of those being single family homes.

The average sale price so far this year is about $225,000, up from $217,000 last year.
