Three years ago, there was a call to install a gate under the St Clair River between Corunna and Stag Island because of complaints about low water levels from cottage owners in the Muskokas and Georgian Bay.
Now, Lake Huron water levels are so high, there's virtually no beach at Ipperwash.
Lambton Shores Mayor Bill Weber says the debris and driftwood that's piled up near the dunes will be removed and water levels should decline once the hot weather settles in.
"The beach will get cleaned up to a certain extent this spring season," he says. "By the time summer comes, there will be lots of places to sit and walk along the beach to enjoy the warm temperatures."
Mayor Weber says high water levels have also affected Grand Bend beaches, but not to the extent seen at Ipperwash and there will still be plenty of sand for the summer tourist season.
