Roof work begins on the historic Lawrence House Friday, the first of several repairs scheduled in the upcoming months.
Built in 1892, the building was donated to the city in 1977.
Property Manager for the City of Sarnia Vince Wijsman says roof repairs are just the beginning.
"After the roof repairs are done we'll have stain glass window repairs as well," says Wijsman. "We have three large stein glass windows and they're going to be removed, reconditioned and put back into place sometime this summer."
Repairs were last done to the building in 1986.
He says they'll be repainting parts of the structure as well.
"We're also going to be painting the front porch, the back porch and in around the windows, getting it back up to snuff and looking good again."
Wijsman says all the work should be wrapped up by the end of the summer.
