Sarnia police are looking for a suspect, believed to be violent, following a foot chase and drug seizure early Friday morning.
Police responded to a disturbance call in the Trillium Park area around 3am and found a man they believed to be in possession of a controlled substance.
When an officer attempted to handcuff the suspect, he broke away and while fleeing from police, allegedly dropped a bag containing over $13,000 worth of illegal drugs.
Constable John Sottosanti says $10,000 of that was methamphetamine.
"This is a higher than normal amount of street value, the largest quantity recovered was the methamphetamine, which is believed to be approximately 100 g," says Sottosanti.
Tom Shade, 33, of Brantford is wanted on two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of resisting a police officer.
Sottosanti says they are unsure if the man is still in the city, but urges residents not to approach him.
"The suspect is believed to be violent so we ask the public not to contact him, but call police immediately," he says.
