May Property Sales Continue Upward Trend

Sarnia-Lambton real estate sales have broken yet another 10-year record high, continuing the trend so far this year.

In May, 210 properties sold with a dollar volume of $45.9-million, up 11% from the same month last year.

Real Estate Board President Jane Baker says it's definitely a sellers market.

"Sellers are seeing multiple offers and they are more likely to get their terms and asking price in a market like this," says Baker.

"Now having said that, it does have to be priced right and it does have to be a property that's desirable."

Baker says MLS listings are down 20% compared to last month.

There are currently 609 active listings in the MLS system with 304 of those being single family homes.

The average sales price so far this year is nearly $226,000, up from $214,000 last year.

The highest number of residential home sales was 44 sales in the $150,000 to $200,000 range.
