Tragically Hip fans in Sarnia are invited to a large viewing party for the band's final show, taking place August 20 in Kingston.
The city has granted use of the big field at Canatara Park for "That Night In Sarnia" which will feature two 30' inflatable video screens showing the CBC broadcast.
Blackburn Radio Marketing Director Aaron Zimmer expects the show to bring mixed emotions to fans.
Hip singer Gord Downie was recently diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and this will be their last tour.
"It's definitely going to be an emotional event, but it's also going to be a fun event for all Tragically Hip fans," says Zimmer.
"It's just designed to get thousands of Hip fans together and talk about the band, sing their songs, tell stories, and it's a great way to raise funds for cancer research."
Festivities get underway at 6pm with the showing of Tragically Hip video footage. Local band The Room takes the stage to play Hip cover songs at 7pm, and the concert starts at 8:30pm.
The show is free but money is being accepted to support the Gord Downie Fund For Brain Cancer Research and Bluewater Health Foundation.
Proceeds from beverage and t-shirt sales will also go toward the cause.
