McDonalds Director of Training, Learning and Development Stacy Salvalaggio says managers who have completed specific training will be eligible for the equivalent of first-year credit for a business or business administration program.
"For example, if I was a management employee in Sarnia, and had competed up to the second assistant manager development program, I would get granted the first year of a two-year diploma program," she says. "That would, in effect, save the employee about $4,500 in tuition fees."
The colleges say it's an innovative partnership that will strengthen Canada's workforce and its economy.
Meanwhile, Bruce Power is partnering with four Ontario Colleges on six diploma programs to help ensure a qualified workforce.
The four, including Lambton College, will offer three diploma courses to ensure Bruce has a qualified workforce from which to choose from.
Students will be offered field or co-op opportunities which could include Bruce Power.
Graduates will eventually be eligible to receive certification under the Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program, a standardized certificate program developed to help ensure potential nuclear plant workers study an industry-approved curriculum.
