Lambton College is opening the doors to its Energy Research Centre today as part of a nation-wide event to show the public different green energy initiatives being worked on at the College.
Dean of Applied Research and Innovation Dr. Mehdi Sheikhzadeh says it's part of the Green Energy Doors series to show how new technology can be used in day to day living.
One is an energy app for cell phones that can be used not only by utility companies but individuals as well.
"You can use it to learn about energy consumption and which greenhouse gases would be offset by greater energy conservation," he says.
Other initiatives include a bio-generator pilot program, a PV/thermal hybrid system and an on-site wind turbine.
The free event runs from 10am to 3pm.
