A Lambton County Information Technology employee will receive one of the highest honours bestowed by the Ontario Provincial Police.
Geographic Information Systems Specialist Greg Spiridonov is being awarded the OPP Commissioner's Letter of Commendation for his role in the Noelle Paquette homicide investigation.
Spiridonov worked with the OPP to provide specialized, high resolution aerial photography of locations pertinent to the investigation and incorporated the images into maps.
While he appreciates the recognition, Spiridonov feels like he was just doing his job.
"It was pretty surprising. I had really no idea that I was put up for it, but good to just be able to do what I can to help," he says.
The OPP used the images to support its criminal case against the pair who pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the 2013 New Year's Day abduction, rape and murder of the Sarnia kindergarten teacher.
34-year-old Tanya Bogdanovich and 22-year-old Michael MacGregor were sentenced in February to life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years.
Spiridonov will be recognized at a special ceremony at a later date.
