Firefighters in Sarnia were kept bust with two fires Friday night and early Saturday morning.
Sarnia Fire Rescue Services says on Friday around 11:12pm, fire crews responded to a fence fire on East St. near Davis St. When firefighters arrived, the blaze spread from the fence and fully engulfed a nearby a rear lean-to shed. As a result, the attached commercial building was filled with smoke.
This fire remains under investigation and damage is estimated at around $25,000.
Later in the night on Saturday at around 3:37am, fire crews were called out to a kitchen fire in a second floor apartment on Brock St. S near Devine St. Three tenants were able to escape the apartment safely when firefighters arrived.
The fire was quickly extinguished and damage was confined to the kitchen area. However, the rest of the apartment sustained smoke damage.
The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental and damage is pegged at $30,000.
