Math scores for Grades 3 and 6 students in both the St. Clair Catholic and Lambton Kent District School Boards aren't good.
The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) has released it's results for the 2015-2016 school year.
In the separate school board, only 59% of grade 3 students met or exceeded the provincial standard of 63% and only 40% met or exceeded the provincial standard of just 50% in Grade 6.
Superintendent of Education Laura Callaghan says the Ontario Ministry of Education recognizes that math scores across the province are not where they should be.
She says like all boards in Ontario they are aiming to improve math scores by implementing the ministry's new provincial math initiative.
"We will just continue our work and stay the course and I'm confident that we will be able to show improvement," says Callaghan.
At the public board, 56% of Grade 3 students met or exceeded the provincial standard of 63% in math and only 38% met or exceeded the provincial standard of just 50% in Grade 6.
While separate school students were above the provincial average in reading and writing, their public school counterparts were below the provincial standard.
