Wicks Variety Closing After 50 Years

Another long-time Point Edward business is closing.

Wicks Variety on St. Clair St. will sell it's last chocolate bar Tuesday.

The late Lillian and Truman Wicks opened the convenience store that sold everything from aspirin to dog food in 1966.

The business is currently owned by Andrew and Holly Howell and employs six part timers.

Andrew Howell says the adjoining Ice Cream Galore will remain open.

"Ice Cream Galore had its best season on record this year and we're so please with the expansion of our business in that regard," says Howell. "We are considering expanding Ice Cream Galore to include the space that's Wick's Variety currently holds because that business is doing so well."

Ice Cream Galore served its first scoop in 1977.
