New EMS Building To Share Work Space With OPP

Lambton OPP officers will be able to use the Extended Service Office on King St. when the Forest detachment closes at the end of this year.

They'll move to a shared work space within the new Lambton Emergency Medical Service (EMS) building in November.

Police say the facility will give officers a new space to meet with members of the public and to complete reports. While there will be no processing of prisoners at this location, there will be no impact on day-to-day policing operations in Lambton Shores.

They say the office is highly visible and will allow for a more defined OPP presence in the area.

"It is my hope the community will enjoy this seamless, yet necessary change which will ensure policing needs in Lambton County are realized," says OPP Inspector Chris Avery.

The closure of the Forest detachment was announced in a caption in the Standard Guide Advocate newspaper last month.

The issue was brought to the forefront by Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton in the Ontario legislature.
