Sarnia's Kinsmen Club needs your help to support this years 36th annual Santa Claus Parade of Lights December 3.
Chairman Bob Marks says just over half of the $15,000 budget still needs to be raised.
"That's mainly transportation costs for the bands," says Marks. "We have a small amount for trophies and that for different categories, but that's quite insignificant compared to the travel expenses of the bands."
Marks says they've sent invitations to four American marching bands and so far they've been accepted by the Port Huron Northern and Memphis, Michigan bands.
"The American bands, well they have to try out for the band just like a football team over there. They have some excellent groups and those seem to be one of the largest pieces of entertainment for parade spectators."
Donations can be sent to Kinsmen Club of Sarnia, P.O. Box 861 Sarnia, Ontario N7T 7J9
Applications to participate in the parade are due by November 17 and can be downloaded at www.sarniakinsmen.ca.
Over 40,000 people have been known to line Christina St. in downtown Sarnia to watch the evening parade which starts at 6pm.
