Fabricators Expand In Anticipation Of Load Corridor

Despite economic pressures including the value of the Canadian dollar, the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership (SLEP) says three local fabricators have undergone significant expansion.

General Manager George Mallay updated Lambton County Council on SLEP's activities in Wyoming this morning.

"We're seeing more of our companies working to find export markets, be they in the middle east, in eastern Canada or western Canada," says Mallay.

Mallay expects a market study and business case for establishment of a proposed oversized load corridor will be complete in the next few weeks.

Completion of the required studies is expected to give local municipalities the information and support needed to apply for funding for infrastructure improvements.

Road modifications and the removal of power lines is estimated to cost $3.6-million.

SLEP and the Sarnia-Lambton Industrial Alliance are spearheading the effort that's expected to be of huge benefit to local industry in various sectors.
