Rangers Double Up Sting

The Sarnia Sting (12-9-3-0) are now winless in five games after a 6-3 defeat at the hands of the Kitchener Rangers (15-7-0-1) in OHL play at Progressive Auto Sales Arena Wednesday night.

The Rangers took a 1-0 lead into the second period, and added two more goals in the first seven minutes to extend their lead to 3-0. Sting rookie Adam Ruzicka scored his eighth of the year unassisted at the 9:35 mark, and Alex Black notched his first of the year to make it a 3-2 game just 1:07 later.

That's as close at the Sting would come, as the Rangers held on for the 6-3 victory. Troy Lajeunesse scored the other Sting goal on the powerplay in the final frame.

Sting goalie Justin Fazio stopped 34 of 39 Kitchener shots while Kitchener's Luke Opilka made 27 saves on 30 shots against.

Sarnia converted one of six powerplay chances while the Rangers notched a pair of powerplay goals on seven opportunities.

The Sting are tied with the Flint Firebirds with 27 points, and four back of Windsor and Sault St Marie in the West Division standings.

The Sting return to action Friday night in Kingston and Saturday afternoon in Ottawa. You can hear all of the action live on 103.9FM-1070AM CHOK.
