Anthony DeAngelo is settling well into life in the NHL.
The former Sarnia Sting defenceman has six points, including a pair of goals, in his first nine games with the Arizona Coyotes.
Speaking with Tony and Josh on the CHOK Sports Show Monday, DeAngelo says he was shopping when he received a call to come up to the NHL.
"I was actually in Tuscon grocery shopping and I got a call from the GM of the Tuscon Roadrunners. He told me [Arizona] needed me to come up because there was an injury, and I would be playing against Colorado" says DeAngelo. "So, I left the groceries behind and went home to pack up."
He says he's fitting in well with the Coyotes after being dealt from the Tampa organization in the off season.
"It's been great, they've been open with me and I knew what the plan was going to be for me the whole time here. It was just a point of coming in and trying to earn a spot and whenever I got the opportunity, just try to run with it and so far it's been good," says DeAngelo.
DeAngelo is joined by fellow Sting alumni Connor Murphy and Jakob Chychrun on the Coyotes roster.
He put up 40 goals and 150 assists in 210 games with the Sarnia Sting between 2011 and 2015.
