St. Clair Twp Mayor Excited For 2017

St Clair Township Mayor Steve Arnold hopes 2017 builds on momentum seen in his municipality in 2016.

NOVA is expanding its Moore site rail lines, continuing work on its 2020 project by spending $400-million on converting the Corunna Cracker to 100% ethane feedstock, and is scheduled to make an announcement on the location of a new $2-billion petrochemical plant at mid-year.

"We're looking at the main waterline loop coming into the municipality," he says. "It's a big project and we've been trying to receive funding since 2016. The engineering's been done on that. We're also working on high speed internet since the Feds have just announced a new grant funding program that we're hoping we can tap into for the folks along the St. Clair River."

Mayor Arnold says he has concerns about the effects Cap and Trade will have on industry in his municipality. They also need to balance the needs of industry, taxpayers, farmers and the environment to ensure all are protected in Lambton County's Official Plan update.
