Even with a couple games left in the season, the Sarnia Legionnaires already know their first round foe.
The Legionnaires will take on the Leamington Flyers in a match up of the fourth and fifth place teams in the Western Conference.
The two teams haven't moved up or down the standings much,
Leamington won five of the six match ups between the two teams this season, including a 5-4 overtime win February 18. All three games at Sarnia Arena needed to be decided in overtime, with Sarnia winning once, and the visiting Flyers winning a pair.
Head Coach Mark Davis expects it to be a tight series. He says they've played them well on home ice, but the road team could very well decide the series.
"We gotta find a way to steal one in of their barn, it's a big rink, it's tough to play in, but I'm confident in our guys and our goaltending, that we can get the job done," says Davis.
He says they will look to fine tune their game in the final weekend of the regular season.
"With two games left, you have to keep the guys upbeat and make sure they pay attention to the details and do the right things," says Davis. "You have to limit your mistakes because they could end up in the back of the net, and you don't want any of those bad habits to carry over into the playoffs."
CHOK will broadcast six games of the first round series, with the only exception being game two on Saturday, March 4 at Sarnia Arena.
The Legionnaires host Chatham Thursday night, before travelling to Strathroy Saturday night for their final regular season game.
