More Road Construction In Petrolia

While senior government funding has not been approved yet, Petrolia Council is proceeding with water, sewer and road reconstruction of Kerby St., Florence Ave., and Egan Ave.

The area north of Petrolia Line is one of the remaining combined sewers in the town and council felt that with the new wastewater treatment plant coming online soon, it was a good time to do the reconstruction.

CAO Manny Baron says no timeline has been set, although the project will be completed in two phases, beginning in 2017.

"This would be the last combined sewer and probably the last major reconstruction we're going to tackle for a while," says Baron. "The rest of our projects will likely be maintenance."

The town has applied for almost $629,000 in funding from the Clean Water Wastewater Fund and are waiting for approval for federal and provincial grants.

The remainder of the $2.6-million project will be paid for by reserves, municipal grants and water and sewer reserves.
