Sarnia Sting goalie Justin Fazio has signed an amateur tryout contract with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers, an affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Over three full seasons with the Sting, the 19-year-old Sarnia native holds a 55-51-10 record, 3.43 goals-against average, .892 save percentage and four shutouts.
Fazio also spent time with the GOJHL's Lambton Shores Predators, and Elgin Middlesex Chiefs Minor Midget AAA team.
He is expected to back up Daniel Altshuller for Friday's 7pm game in Grand Rapids as Tom McCollum will not be available due to personal reasons.
