Seven low-cost rabies vaccination clinics are planned across Sarnia-Lambton.
The clinics, to be held in April and May, are open to all cats and dogs, three months of age and older.
Lambton Public Health Inspector Mike Richardson says the animals must be in good health and not vaccinated within the last year.
"The best way to prevent rabies is by vaccinating our pets, because they are the link between wild animals that can carry rabies and humans," says Richardson.
He adds that it's also a legal requirement to have your dog or cat vaccinated against the infectious disease.
"Last year we had over 900 animals throughout the county vaccinated, so hopefully we will at least get that many this year, if not more."
The cost is $25 cash per animal at the county clinics and $20 in Sarnia.
This clinics start at the Cairo Public Works Garage Saturday April 1, from 9:30am to 11:30am, and at the Dawn-Euphemia Community Centre in Florence from 1pm to 3pm.
Clinics are also planned in Rutherford, Alvinston, Oil Springs, Enniskillen and Sarnia.
