Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers is offering a $500 cash reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible for the severe damage at Canatara Park.
It's believed an SUV or off-road vehicle damaged both the main field and the hills near the beach parking overnight Friday, April 7.
Board President Sean Robbins says the vandalism has really hit a nerve with local residents.
"Crime Stoppers is well used in our community, that's for sure," says Robbins. "We've put [the reward] out on social media and it's had over 9,000 views, so I think we're going to get some answers out of this."
Anyone with information can call the Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-800-222-8477. Crime Stoppers tips are anonymous. You don't have to identify yourself or appear in court.
In the meantime, Sarnia Parks and Recreation personnel will be meeting with city police again Wednesday morning to discuss further security options in the park.
Parks and Recreation Director Rob Harwood says it could be some time before big ruts can be filled and ripped out sod removed.
