Victims of crime are being welcomed into a more relaxing and comfortable interview room at Sarnia Police Headquarters.
Constable John Sottosanti says they've transformed their "soft interview room."
He says the room is used for children and adults who have been victimized in various crimes, like sexual assaults or domestic violence.
"The hope is that when individuals do come into the room that they will be able to sit down and talk with a police officer and not feel like they're being interrogated, increasing their level of stress," says Sottosanti. "We were able to get some sofas and pictures to put up in the room, again, to make the atmosphere a lot more relaxing for individuals to be there and talk with officers."
Sottosanti says the room is used on a regular basis in connection with serious crimes.
The furniture and decor for the room was donated by Sarnia's Sears and Teppermans stores.
