OPP Urge Caution Around Farm Vehicles

The warmer weather is leading to an increase in farm vehicles on area roadways, and Lambton OPP are urging drivers to be extra careful.

Constable Chris Doupe says these slow moving vehicles will be have orange triangles on them, and make wide turns.

"As operators of motor vehicles, we're certainly required to share half of the highway including overtaking these farm vehicles," says Doupe. "We've all seen where they've had to avoid mailboxes or hydro poles. Just be very careful while passing these vehicles and make sure you have lots of room and the farmer has lots of room to react."

Doupe says if drivers need to pass these vehicles, make sure it's safe to do so and leave a wide berth.

He says farmers are required to have proper lighting and trailer attachments and slow moving vehicle signs on their equipment.
