There's an opportunity for more public consultation Tuesday evening on Petrolia's Health Care Village and CEE Hospital Master Plan.
The project involves construction of a village with affordable housing and services for seniors centred around the town's hospital and the Central Lambton Family Health Team.
A second information night and public open house is on from 6-8pm at LCCVI's Bradshaw Hall.
Town CAO/Clerk Manny Baron says the project is a huge undertaking.
"The response has been extremely positive," says Baron. "This is the first of its kind in Ontario, in regards to the planning process and partnership with the hospital. People are excited, but that being said, we have to make sure that we gather all of the information so that when the master plan is complete all the information is presented from the public, Bluewater Health and the Town of Petrolia."
Baron says there'll be one or two more open houses before the master plan is complete this fall.
He expects the plans won't come to fruition for another five to 15 years.
"Yes we need to address the aging population, but we want to make sure that it's done properly," says Baron. "We don't want to rush into it because this village will be in Petrolia for such a long time that we want to get it right the first time."
