Busy City Intersection To Be Closed Monday

A major intersection in the city will be closed to traffic Monday for road work.

The intersection of London Rd. and Murphy Rd. will be closed to all traffic from 6am until 11:59pm on June 19 to allow for the removal of the asphalt and subsequent resurfacing.

Manager of Public Works with the County of Lambton Matt Deline says the entire extent of the closure is just one day.  He says the work is part of the London Rd. resurfacing project.

"There's about 20 working days scheduled for the remainder of London Rd. between Lambton Mall Rd. and Murphy Rd. that will be resurfaced and work will be done between 7pm and 6am," says Deline. "It's been on our books for the last few years to be completed, but it has came to the point that we need to repair the surface asphalt for that section of roadway."

All businesses will remain open during the project, expected to wrap up by July 14.

Motorists are advised to expect delays.
