A figure skating show on artificial ice will be just one of the activities at Saturday's family-friendly official community reopening of Centennial Park in Sarnia.
There will be live music on the new Suncor Agora stage, as well as activities for the children from 11am until 7pm. Everything is free except the BBQ.
The park has been closed since 2013 after asbestos and other contaminants were discovered in the soil. It reopened to the public on June 2 ahead of Saturday's celebration.
The total cost of remediation has reached $12-million, although installation of the new boat ramp is still dead in the water.
An Ontario 150 Community Celebration grant is covering 75% of the approximately $45,000 cost of Saturday's festivities with the city picking up the rest of the tab.
