Skies were threatening at times and there was rain and thunder but, all in all, the weather July 1, 2017 did not slow down Sarnia's Canada 150 party.
There seemed to be more red-and-white clad residents than ever along the route for the annual parade down Lakeshore Rd. from Colborne Rd. to Canatara Park. The rain held off until just after the lengthy procession had ended.
Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the area at about 12:30pm and there was rain off and on until about mid-afternoon but then the skies cleared for the rest of the celebrations at Centennial Park including the fireworks display.
The waterfront from Sarnia Bay to Ferry Dock Hill was jammed with spectators.
Sarnia police indicated by Twitter that, overall, the large crowds were well-behaved and everything went smoothly.
