Sarnia-Lambton residents are encouraged to be water wise while on, in, or near the water this summer.
Lambton Public Health is urging everyone to use the hashtag #WhyIWill on Twitter and Facebook to share their reasons for wearing life jackets.
Health promoter Kelley Elliott says it's a great way to get the younger generation involved in water safety. She says there are free life jacket lending programs at Canatara, Grand Bend, Kettle Point, and the Pinery beaches.
According to the 2016 Ontario Drowning Report, not wearing a life jacket is one of the leading causes of drowning-related deaths in Canada.
Lambton Public Health also says victims were not wearing life jackets in two recent drowning deaths on the Great Lakes.
