Recent changes to the Sarnia Transit schedule are being met with some opposition.
Deputy Director Lee Patterson says changes for the summer months took effect on Monday.
"The two biggest changes are a reduction in frequency on our Route 9 service from the current 15 minute service to 30 minute service on the hour and the half hour, that will be in effect until the weekend prior to Labour Day, along with our Heritage Park service will now be on request only, instead of once an hour," says Patterson.
He says the changes also include a reduction to two trips an hour to the Research Park from three.
Sarnia Transit user Terry Anderson says the reduction in service hurts seniors.
"It's not going to work because some older people are walking with canes and like I'm getting older, I can't stand the heat either and there's got to be buses coming every 15 minutes or people are not going to be able to stand the heat," says Anderson.
Anderson has planned a protest on the steps of Sarnia City Hall on Thursday and Friday from 9am until noon.
The summer schedule, which runs until the weekend before Labour Day, was approved by city council in December as a cost saving measure.
