Smoke & Spice Southern Barbeque is on track to open its new Sarnia restaurant August 15.
Owner and Director of Operations James Currie says the transformation of the former Montana's restaurant on Exmouth St. is going well.
"We've actually just enclosed the addition of a building out on the back to house the smokers that are coming in," says Currie. "Once they're done, within two weeks we'll have all of our equipment arriving and the rest of the dining room will be, hopefully, done the third week of July."
Currie says they hope to have everyone hired and start training by the beginning of next month.
"In total about 60 positions. We've hired a couple managers, we have our general manager already and three key people [that are] going to be working in the back," he says. "So we have about 55 positions to fill."
A job fair is being held Monday, July 10 and Tuesday, July 11 at the Holiday Inn in Point Edward from 10am to 6pm each day.
"Show up with a resume," says Currie. "We'll have you fill out an application and we will be interviewing everybody who shows up on the spot. The general manager will be there, as well as myself and a couple other people from the restaurant."
Sarnia's restaurant is being modeled after the first location in Windsor.
Currie says he's interested in further expansion and is currently investigating growth opportunities in Chatham, London, St. Thomas, Kitchener and Guelph.
