Cremated remains may soon be scattered “legally” at the Point Lands along the St. Clair River.
Sarnia council has approved the overall concept plan for design and installation of a platform area to be built there.
The city will be accepting donations for the project, which has an estimated cost of $15,000.
If the total cost is not collected within a reasonable period of time, the donations will be used in some other way by the city to benefit the Point Lands.

Replacing the Bedford Pumping station has taken another step forward.
Council has awarded the engineering services for the final design, tendering, approvals and contract administration to AECOM Canada Inc.
The company submitted the lowest tender of nearly $2.3-million.
The Bedford Pumping Station project is part of the $49-million major Sarnia sewer upgrade project that's getting $30-million in provincial and federal funding.
The city will pay the remaining costs, which are estimated at $19-million.

Consideration of an urban plaza in the downtown/waterfront area has been deferred to the Parks and Recreation Master Plan process.
While staff believes the concept in the Front St. parking lot would improve the connection between the downtown and waterfront, opposition was raised by the downtown business community.
Concerns were related to available parking downtown, competition with restaurants and businesses and lack of washroom facilities in the area.
Staff has identified other options, including the site of the former MacLean Centre, which was previously used as a restaurant and licensed patio area.
Redevelopment of the parkland will be directed to the planning process for further review.
