A small reunion is planned this weekend to mark the 75th anniversary of the historic Village of Blue Water.
The village, located near the current chemical valley, was home to labourers constructing the Polymer plant during the Second World War in the early 1940s.
With the rise of industry in the 1960s, residents were forced to move out of the area.
Serge Gauthier was one of about 2,300 village residents and is looking forward to re-connecting with old friends.
Over 100 people have already registered.
"It was just a very good, tight-knit community with lots of different nationalities including French, English and Italian," says Gauthier. "The biggest memory I have is back in 1953 we were one of the first families to have a black and white TV. Of course, all of the neighbour kids liked to come over and watch some special series. The Untouchables was one of them."
The reunion is being held Saturday from 5pm until 10pm at Le Centre Communautaire Francophone off the Rapids Parkway.
There will be food, old pictures and videos of the village, as well as artifacts from the 40s and 50s.
