The sport of truck and tractor pulling began in the days of real horse power, but over the years, has developed into a circuit of modified vehicles competing for top honours.
The third annual sanctioned Southwestern Ontario Tractor Pullers Association meet gets underway at the Plympton-Wyoming Fairgrounds at 2pm, Sunday, August 27.
Spokesperson Murray Preece says it features a weight transfer machine for the safety of spectators.
"The tractors are segregated into weight classes," says Preece. "They pull a weight transfer machine which goes up on a geared weight box. Horsepower can range depending on the cubic inch of their motors."
There will be a beer tent and food offered as well.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
