Environment Canada had issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the area for early Monday evening.
Radar showed a line of strong, perhaps severe thunderstorms moving through southeastern lower Michigan and headed toward the Sarnia area.
The line of storms had moved out of the Sarnia area by 8pm.
The man was charged in March with sexual assault offences.
