As the first week of school comes to a close parents are being reminded to make sure their kids immunization records are up-to-date.
Lambton Public Health Supervisor Erin Courtney says the first notices don't go out until December, but parents can act now.
"So while you're gathering schools supplies and planning healthy lunches, take a few minutes to report your child's immunization to Lambton Public Health," says Courtney. "Lambton Public Health is required to keep immunization records for all students in Lambton County and if your child's records are not up to date they risk being suspended from school. The first notices won't go out until December, but there's no need to wait."
There were 346 students suspended from school this past February due to outdated vaccination information.
Parents can update immunization records online at www.lambtonhealth.on.ca by phone or in person at the Exmouth St. health unit.
