Speeding Teen Caught In School Zone Crackdown

The cost of car insurance for a 17-year-old Sarnia high school student will be going up after he was allegedly caught going 49 km/h over the 50 km/hr speed limit.

The teen was pulled over at around 3pm Thursday after Sarnia police had set up radar in the area of Indian Rd. N, and Cathcart Blvd. in reaction to complaints of vehicles speeding through city school zones.

He faces a $359 fine, and four demerit points and was also hit with a $110 ticket and two demerit points for failing to signal a lane change.

Police are reminding motorists to slow down especially in school zones with classes underway again.
