Green Party Preparing For 2018 Election

A nomination meeting is set for September 29 to choose a candidate to represent the Green Party in Sarnia-Lambton.

Kevin Shaw has declared his intention to seek that nomination.

High on his agenda is consolidating public and Catholic school boards.

"There have been a number of rural school closings lately," says Shaw. "If the systems were merged, it would really help out in the rural areas, keeping a school open in each community. The status quo parties refuse to touch the issue because they're afraid of the backlash."

Shaw is a math teacher Great Lakes Secondary School and the owner of a small website business.

He's trying to dispel the misconception that the Greens are a one platform party, saying he favours measures to help small business.
