24th Annual Day Of Caring

Hundreds of workers rolled up their sleeves at 42 locations across Lambton County Tuesday, including a team from Farm Credit Canada, to participate in the "Day of Caring" for the first time.

Relationship Management Associate Sara White says they've been giving the Lochiel Kiwanis Centre a deep clean.

"We've been cleaning all of the windows inside and out," says White. "They just finished some summer programs in the building, so they were in need of a good cleanse , so we've been cleaning the windows, cleaning the floors, cleaning the walls, hanging up some new fixtures for them. There's nothing like sweating it out with your coworkers and cleaning and leaving the place looking much better then when we came in."

She says they're already planning to return next year.

"Farm credit really wanted their employees to go out in the community and give back and at the same time we found out about the United Way's Day of Caring and we just thought that it was a really good fit to get out there and do some things that are in need of in our community," says White.

The "Day of Caring" kick starts the official launch of United way Sarnia-Lambton's 2017 campaign.

This year's fundraising goal is $2-million, the same goal as the 2016 campaign.
